05 December 2008 - Signed up for the Mongol Charity Rally, this is where the journey starts.
23 March 2009 - Drove 4 hours North to Bradford to look at a 4x4 ambulance Luke found on the internet.
31st March 2009 - Have completed the payment for our ambulance which Wills mum has asked to be named Dolly, due to her buxom nature!
23rd April 2009 - Luke had his first taste of stardom with an appearance on BBC2 on the 9 o'clock news.
24th April 2009 -We drove to Oxford for the weekend to start repairing Dolly and bringing her up to scratch for the journey.
27th April 2009- Spent 12 hours worikng on the car and 12 hours on admin- jam packed weekend, but we're getting there. We have sent out over 350 letters of sponsorshi!
2nd May 2009- Will and Luke went over to Gordon's house on Friday and touched up some paint, taking off from where we left her last weekend. Today we went to the first day of a Land Rover weekend at the Motor Heritage center in Gaydon and found some spare parts for the car, whilst banging buckets to raise money for the vehicle. Tomorrow we will be doing the same.
9th May 2009- Luke has been sanding down the area's that are going to get replaced. We also took out the seats, had a bit of a clean, and fixed them so that they could be adjusted. We are sorting a night in Bristols finest night club Versa! we will be trying to get as many people into the club dressed in emergency equipment. We all have our jabs next week, and we are sending our passports off for our visa's, next Monday.
28th May 2009-Will and Charlie have been finishing up in Bristol, with all their exams. I went to Coventry to pick up our newly reconditioned gear box and transfer box, which are both looking squeeky clean. This is all due to a discounted rate from Andrew at AW transmissions so Thank you to him!
I then went to Tony's to carry on getting the rust off the chassis, a job now made far easier since the car is up on the lift. The back axel and rear half of the chassis are now completely sanded and painted, which will prevent any more rusting from taking hold of the car once it has been delivered. I don't think I have ever got myself into such a state, rust everywhere as you will be able to see from the photos.
Next week we will be putting the power steering, new clutch and new handbrake in. which is hugely exciting.
11th June 2009- We are putting the coils and front axle in today! the whole of the under side is rerurbished. Tonight is the night of the party, very excited and nervous. Lots of people are coming down to Bristol which is great, and will hopefully pull everyone else to Versa.
The leaving date is looming, which is making us all a little bit nervous!
24th June 2009- The car is off the lift. It seems to be a different vehicle. I am taking it over to Wills' house tomorrow where we will be leaving from. We have all our visas, and paperwork except one thing we arfe waiting on from the charity rally organisers.
Hugely excited about leaving just need this last piece of paper!
